LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

House Captains are the skilled volunteers who are key to our success. Their job is to act as the foreman or director at a site. Each House Captain meets with his/her homeowner and evaluates the home. Together, the House Captain and homeowner write a scope of work to be accomplished on the workday. When the workday arrives, the House Captain organizes about 60 hours of volunteer time, including the workday.

First Mates serve as the liaison and lifeline between the House Captain, homeowner, volunteers, and the Rebuilding Together office. First Mates are the primary safety figures during the workday. Each First Mate ensures that every volunteer on site has completed a waiver form and is wearing a Rebuilding Together t-shirt. First Mates are the acting volunteer coordinator for the site with duties such as: keeping the morale up on site, keeping things organized and making sure that volunteers are working in a safe and secure environment.

Team Leaders are the skilled trades people that lead the small projects at each home and community facility on the workdays. For example, Team Leaders are needed to instruct volunteers in rebuilding stairs or fences.

Planning Committee evaluates the program and creates new procedures to enhance Rebuilding Together’s overall effectiveness.
