Rebuilding Together East Bay-North has a long history of community development in Emeryville. This wheelchair ramp, for example, was built by our organization 20 years ago for the current homeowner’s mother, and it is still in use today. While the ramp is still in good shape, the homeowner has a new problem: roots have grown into her sewer line, causing backups with increasing frequency and rising maintenance expenses. When this ongoing issue required an urgent repair, Rebuilding Together helped negotiate a discounted rate on service with the great folks at Mr. Roto. This story is typical of our neighbors who need to address immediate concerns until they are able to manage the lasting repairs that allow these senior residents to continue aging safely in place.
